RUBIES IN THE DESERT - A blog by Christina Stolaas

The desert isn’t a place where much life is found. It’s barren. dry, fruitless and desolate. I spent years of my life in desert lands; stuck wandering and waiting hopelessly. I’ve felt the pain of a parched soul and insatiable thirst. Yet, it is in this desert land that I’ve met the One who alone satisfies and breathes life into the dead places of my heart.

About Me

I am an energetic mom to four adorable young kids, wife, a lover of the outdoors and people. In my free time I enjoy writing, training for road races, drinking too much coffee, belly laughs with friends and pursuing a deeper walk with Jesus. I am forever thankful that God’s script for my life needs no editing. (Romans 8:28) I am a frequent contributor to Shattered Magazine, The Wonderfully Made Blog and Whole Magazine.

Is 43:18-19 says, “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. “

Though there are times as believers we still walk through dry lands, we do it now with One whom goes before us. Our Savior guides our steps and is armed with resources and plans we know nothing about! And He is— for us.

There are lessons to be learned in the desert lands; by God’s grace even the very things that were meant to destroy us can be used for good. (Gen 50:20) Proverbs tells us that nothing is more desirable the wisdom, nothing we desire has any comparison. This blog is my collection of rubies; the things God has taught and is continually teaching me, many of which I have learned in the desert. Pursuing wisdom in the ordinary everday life lessons as well as the monumental moments is a lifetime endeavor. I invite you to join me in this pursuit of immeasurable worth.
